AFD Advisory Committee

  • Advises the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors and assists in creating, reviewing, modifying, continuing or terminating agricultural and forestal districts within the County
  • Renders expert advice as to the nature of farming and forestry, as well as agricultural and forestal resources within the districts and their relation to the entire locality
  • Governed by Virginia Code Section 15.2-4304 and New Kent Code Section 62-34
  • Consists of eight County landowners (five district appointments and three at-large), four of whom must be engaged in agricultural or forestal production, as well as the Commissioner of the Revenue and a member of the Board of Supervisors
  • Members serve 4-year staggered terms ending December 31
