Fluoride

The fluoride in New Kent Public Utilities drinking water is naturally occurring. Public Utilities does not fluoridate (add fluoride to) drinking water. The fluoride concentration standard for drinking water is currently under review by EPA. New Kent County water systems do not exceed the current fluoride maximum concentration standard of 4.0 ppm (parts per million). The water systems at Colonial Downs, New Kent Courthouse and Parham Landing do exceed the fluoride concentration of 2.0 ppm for which public notification is required. Fluoride concentrations for individual water systems are reported to customers in the Annual Consumer Confidence Reports (Drinking Water Quality Reports). New Kent Public Utilities also provides the required Fluoride Public Notification to affected customers in the Consumer Confidence Reports.
