June 1 marks the end of permanent vehicle decals for New Kent County

The New Kent County Board of Supervisors amended the County Code on Monday, April 9, eliminating the requirement for County residents to display windshield decals on their vehicles as proof of registration. This change will become effective June 1.

The annual $25 vehicle registration fee remains in effect for automobiles and is included on the annual county personal property tax bills.

Those who utilize county refuse sites can obtain a decal for trash and recycling disposal purposes at any of the four refuse sites. This decal should be placed on the outside of the windshield, to the right of the state inspection sticker or the back side of the rear view mirror. Residents may also show their driver’s license at the refuse sites each time they visit the site, if they prefer not to put the decal on their vehicle.
