The 2012 edition of the Virginia Residential Code is currently being enforced. It is based on the 2012 ICC International Residential Code. All jurisdictions in the Commonwealth of Virginia enforce the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) 2012 edition. The 2012 USBC became effective July 14, 2014 and will remain in effect until (tentatively) July 14, 2017.
