The public information function of the County Administration Office:
- provides information to the press, coordinates media relations
- assists citizens in contacting government offices or agencies
- provides information on local government meetings and activities
- provides information to the local cable channel
- writes press releases, publishes the county newsletter
- coordinates and staffs the county’s citizen education program, New Kent University
- updates county website and social media channels
- coordinates special events
- coordinates and/or tracks Freedom of Information Act requests
- provides media and communications support to the Emergency Operations Center, activated by the County during local emergencies and drills
