[ARCHIVED] NKC sets up COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center

female making call

New Kent County is currently in Phase 1b of COVID-19 vaccinations, and as the Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) availability of the COVID-19 vaccine increases, we will work with our local health district to move into other phases.  We will be focusing on the prioritization strategies outlined by the Governor and as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

New Kent County has opened a COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center for anyone with vaccination questions or to pre-register for future vaccine clinics to be scheduled in New Kent County.  It is important to note that we do not have any clinics set up at this time - the call center is being utilized to pre-register individuals for anything in the future. The call center telephone number is (804) 966-9677. The call center is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Residents can best stay informed through the call center, the media, on our website and Facebook page, and by visiting these VDH sites:

The Chickahominy Health District (CHD), of which New Kent County is included, has updated their website homepage, to include COVID-19 resources.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Commonwealth of Virginia is launching a Statewide Vaccine Pre-Registration System to provide a unified and comprehensive process for people in Virginia to pre-register (aka be on the CHD waiting list) for the COVID-19 vaccine. As a result, the Virginia Department of Health has directed all local health districts to close their pre-registration forms and surveys at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12, and replace them at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16 with a link to the new statewide system. In the interim, existing waiting lists will be imported to the new system and pre-registration will be temporarily unavailable throughout Virginia.

All individuals who have previously filled out a survey or form or signed up for a waitlist to be vaccinated through their local health district will be automatically imported into the new statewide system. Individuals will maintain their current status in the queue, and will be able to search that they are in the new system starting Tuesday morning.

While these vaccines are a light at the end of the tunnel, now is not the time to let down your guard. Everyone needs to continue to implement safe practices such as wearing a mask, physical distancing, and frequent hand hygiene.
