[ARCHIVED] NKC sets up COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center

female making call

New Kent County is currently in Phase 1b of COVID-19 vaccinations, and as the Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) availability of the COVID-19 vaccine increases, we will work with our local health district to move into other phases.  We will be focusing on the prioritization strategies outlined by the Governor and as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

New Kent County has opened a COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center for anyone with vaccination questions or to pre-register for future vaccine clinics to be scheduled in New Kent County. The call center is being utilized to pre-register individuals in phases 1a, 1b and 1c for anything in the future, however we are not able to give personal estimates of your position in the queue. The call center telephone number is (804) 966-9677. The call center is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Weekly vaccinations clinics, in partnership with the Chickahominy Health District, begin the week of March 1, with the focus being on senior citizens 75 years and older. The 65 and older demographic will follow. No walk-ins will be taken; clinics are by appointment ONLY.

Residents can best stay informed through the call center, the media, on our website and social media, and by visiting these VDH sites:

The Chickahominy Health District (CHD), of which New Kent County is included, has updated their website homepage, to include COVID-19 resources.

The Commonwealth of Virginia has launched a new Statewide Vaccine Pre-Registration System to provide a unified and comprehensive process for people in Virginia to pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine. Go to Vaccinate.Virginia.gov or call: 1-877-VAX-IN-VA to get information on the vaccine (how it works, why it is safe), get pre-registered (add your name to the waiting list) for the COVID vaccine, and you'll be notified when it's your turn to get a vaccine appointment. All individuals who have previously filled out a survey or form or signed up for a waitlist to be vaccinated through their local health district will be automatically imported into the new statewide system. Individuals will maintain their current status in the queue, and will be able to search that they are in the new system.

New Kent County residents may pre-register in the statewide system as well as the New Kent County database.

While these vaccines are a light at the end of the tunnel, now is not the time to let down your guard. Everyone needs to continue to implement safe practices such as wearing a mask, physical distancing, and frequent hand hygiene.
