2021 Legislative Agenda approved on Dec. 14The Board of Supervisors approved the 2021 legislative agenda at the December 14, 2020 Board of Supervisors meeting. You can view the document, which lists objectives for legislative action at the state level on issues such as transportation, broadband and groundwater issues, here.
The next Board of Supervisors meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on January 12, 2021 for the regularly scheduled monthly business meeting. Items on the agenda at this time include five public hearings on three different AFDs (Agricultural & Forestal District), a conditional use permit for a dog training and board facility, a one-time salary bonus for NKSO employees and refuse site staff and more. Circuit Court awarded grant to preserve local recordsThe Library of Virginia announced that the Circuit Court Records Preservation (CCRP) program has awarded New Kent Circuit Court Clerk Amy P. Crump a grant in the amount of $15,982.00 for local records preservation. The funds will be used to conserve Plat Book 5, p.1-50, 1967-1968; Plat Book 5, p.51-100, 1968-1969; Plat Book 6, p.1-50, 1970-1972; Plat Book 6, p.51-100, 1972-1974 stored in her office.
“We’re very excited,” said Amy P. Crump, Clerk. “These records are the history of our county! We have an obligation to make sure that they are available for future generations.”
Since 1990, the CCRP has awarded over 1,000 grants totaling more than $20,000,000. This year, the program awarded $1,633,800.19 to 95 localities to assist the clerks’ offices with their preservation efforts.
The CCRP is a part of the Library of Virginia's Local Records Services Branch. Funded through a $3.50 portion of the clerk’s recordation fee, the CCRP provides resources to help preserve and make accessible permanent circuit court records stored in the 120 circuit courts and at the Library of Virginia.
