The Chickahominy Health District held a COVID-19 vaccine clinic in New Kent County for first responders within the Chickahominy Health District on January 13, 2021 . These groups were identified as part of Phase 1a by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP). While the vaccine supply is limited, COVID-19 vaccine will be offered in phases. People who are more likely to have severe COVID-19 illness and workers that are essential to the functioning of society will be offered the vaccine in the earlier phases.
The Virginia Health Department has announced that the Chesterfield, Chickahominy, Henrico and Richmond health districts will expand their COVID-19 vaccination campaigns to include Phase 1b frontline essential employees.
Workers in the first three categories of Phase 1b will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines beginning Monday, January 18. This includes:

CARES relief funding for past due water and sewer bills
New Kent County Public Utilities is offering relief for customers requiring assistance to pay their past due water and sewer bills as a result of COVID-19. The funding for this program is provided by the State from CARES ACT funding. To qualify for this funding, customers must demonstrate an economic hardship which was directly related to COVID-19 AND have a past due water and/or sewer bill of 30 days or more.

Board reorganizes
The Board of Supervisors met on January 12 for their annual organizational meeting. Thomas Evelyn, District 1, was elected Chair (left). C. Thomas Tiller, District 2, was elected Vice Chair (right).
Evelyn was elected to the Board in November 2007 and Tiller was first elected November 2011. The meeting in its entirety can be viewed on YouTube.
County offices closed on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
County offices will be closed Monday, January 18, 2021 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Offices will re-open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19.
