COVID-19 Vaccination InformationNew Kent County is currently in Phase 1b of COVID-19 vaccinations, and as the Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) availability of the COVID-19 vaccine increases, we will work with our local health district to move into other phases. We will be focusing on the prioritization strategies outlined by the Governor and as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Residents can best stay informed through the media, on our website and Facebook page, and by visiting these VDH sites: VDH COVID-19 Vaccination ResponseVDH COVID-19 Vaccination Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)See when you can be vaccinatedThe Chickahominy Health District, of which New Kent County is included, has updated their website homepage, to include COVID-19 resources. It includes a vaccine sign-up survey (new version - if you have filled out previous surveys, you do not need to to this again), and details on which phase we are in for vaccines locally. To sign up to be notified by the Chickahominy Health District when it's your turn for vaccination, you will need to complete a vaccine inquiry form. Richmond area seniors are eligible to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at one of three senior specific events happening January 29th-31st (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). About 7,000 qualified individuals who have filled out interest forms will be contacted to make an appointment at one of these events. The events are put on by Henrico County, Richmond and Henrico Health Districts, Chesterfield Health Dist rict, and Chickahominy Health District and will supplement each local health district’s ongoing COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
Many eligible seniors who have already filled out an interest form with their health district will be contacted to register for an appointment. The events will predominately serve adults aged 75+. We strongly recommend seniors who filled out a form check their e-mail and answer their phone. Schedulers will work through the interest form lists; seniors will receive one e-mail and two phone calls before the scheduler moves on to the next person. Directions in the e-mail must be completed by the deadline listed. Due to the high volume of registrations, the health district is unable to accept calls back from seniors, so it is important they answer the phone. Phone calls will be made between 8:00a.m.-8:00p.m. until all appointments are filled.
New Kent County will also be opening a vaccination hotline soon for those with questions. More information on this is forthcoming. Check back here. Anyone with q uestions now concerning COVID-19 vaccinations may be directed to the Chickahominy Health District at CHDvaccine@vdh.virginia.gov.
