Strides for Schools event tomorrowThe New Kent Educational Foundation (NKEF) is proud to present the Strides for Schools event this year on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at a new location, Colonial Downs Race Track.
This will consist of several race opportunities to include the One Mile Apple Dash and the 5K Strides for Schools. The proceeds for the event will benefit the NKEF and its various projects, such as: students scholarships, teacher grants, the theater department, homecoming events, and many other educational programs throughout the year.
Strides for Schools will accept day-of race registrations.More information and sign-upThe New Kent Educational Foundation (NKEF) channels community resources to promote and enhance educational opportunities for the students and staff of New Kent County Public Schools. The NKEF has provided grants to teachers in all four schools, scholarships to students, a technology resource library, an annual CPR day, and a variety of other special projects.

Financial Services's Margaret Jefferson named Employee of the QuarterNew Kent County staff attended the annual employee appreciation luncheon last week. This year's event included a boxed lunch, catered by Colonial Downs and Rosie's Gaming.
Also at the luncheon, Margaret Jefferson received the First Quarter 2022 Employee of the Quarter award from County Administrator Rodney Hathaway and Director of Human Resources Karen Wiscott.
Margaret has been with the County since June 2007 and has been a vital part of the Financial Service Department and payroll for the past 15 years. Her hard work, dedication, knowledge, passion and willingness to go above and beyond are just a few of the reasons multiple staff members nominated her for the award.
Margaret received a gift from the County, a framed certificate, a $250 bonus and her name will appear on an Employee of the Quarter plaque in the County Administration Building.
Congratulations Margaret and thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to NKC!

New Kent Board of Supervisors to meet Monday eveningThe New Kent County Board of Supervisors will meet for its regular business meeting next week - Monday, May 9, 2022 at 6 p.m. The business meeting will take place in the New Kent County Administration Building (12007 Courthouse Circle, New Kent). The Board will hear hold six public hearings on various topics. The full agenda for this meeting can be found here. The business meeting can be watched live via YouTube or replayed on Cox Communications Channel 48 at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. beginning on the day following the meeting.
