Trash & Recycling Centers operation Monday night at the regularly scheduled Board meeting, Supervisors voted to rescind the motion from the April work session which would have changed hours of operation at the trash & recycling centers, closed all sites on Mondays, and moved electronics recycling from the Route 618 site to semiannual events. All of these changes would have taken effect on July 1, 2022. With the vote to rescind, all operations at the trash & recycling centers will continue as they were.

Treasurer's Office receives honors from Treasurers' Association of VAThe New Kent County Treasurer Charles H. Evelyn, III received two very special honors this week at the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia (TAV) annual conference. The New Kent County Treasurer’s Office is now fully accredited by the TAV. In addition, Evelyn was awarded the TAV Treasurer of the Year Award.Evelyn is a lifelong New Kent resident. He was elected New Kent Treasurer in 2019 for a term beginning January 1, 2020.

Additional Dominion slow rolls to impact traffic on I-64 Dominion Energy has scheduled additional slow rolls on Interstate 64 in New Kent County to facilitate electric wire pulling work.
The slow rolls will take place on I-64 east and west near Eltham Road/Route 33 (mile marker 220) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21. Drivers should expect delays in 15-minute windows with 45-minute lifts in between to allow normal traffic flow.
Additionally, the westbound left lane will be closed overnight at the same location from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 23. The work is for Dominion’s Line 224 (Lanexa-Northern Neck) Electric Transmission Project. The goal of the project is to replace an aging electric transmission line to maintain reliable service for Dominion’s customers.
