June 2022 Drought Watch lifted

The Drought Watch issued June 30, 2022 by the Virginia Drought Monitoring Task Force has been lifted.

Public Utility customers should consult their irrigation or lawn care professionals and consider adjusting their irrigation system timing accordingly. The Department of Public Utilities also recommends a rain sensor to override unnecessary irrigation cycles. Over-watering can cause brown spots, mold and poor root development.

New Kent County to remember those lost on September 11, 2001

Please join us on the steps of the Courthouse on September 9, 2022 at 8:00 am when we will join together to honor those who were lost in the attacks on our Country on September 11, 2001.

We will be conducting a brief ceremony to pay our respects to the civilians, members of the U. S. Armed Services, Fire Services, EMS and Law Enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice on that day and who continue to suffer from the effects of the tragic events.
