Early voting in NKC this Saturday

Many are asking how they can vote early in New Kent County. ALL early voting is taking place at the General Registrar's Office (in the Health & Human Services Building, located directly behind the New Kent Post Office). Early voting is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and Saturday, November 5. A full sample ballot and other information concerning the Tuesday, November 8, 2022 General Election can be found on the County's website at Voter Registration. Those who prefer to vote on election day can find their polling place on the County's Find Your Polling Place App.

Prescription drug take back event on Saturday at NKSO

The New Kent County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration - Office of Diversion Control. You can drop off unwanted/unused prescription drugs at the New Kent Sheriff's Office (11995 Courthouse Circle, New Kent) . You are invited to bring any potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for disposal (no liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches). The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Please properly dispose of these items to avoid having them stolen, lost or misused. It's a safe method for the environment too.

Join us for the last Fall Market of the season at NKFM tomorrow

Come out between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. for a fun-filled family fall market this Saturday, October 29 at the New Kent Farmers Market pavilion (7589 New Kent Hwy., New Kent). We'll have New Kent Virginia Cooperative Extension with a seasonal decoration demonstration, New Kent Parks & Recreation with activities for the children, New Kent County will have a bounce house, and they will join 15+ other vendors all with local, unique products and a trunk-or-treat event for the kids!

Fall is the perfect time to visit your local farmers market to find something unique in addition to local beef, eggs, baked goods, lotions, soaps, and scrubs, dog treats, jams, juices, candles, and plants in addition to home decor and great gifts.

And we almost forgot our favorite part - the Lazy Cow Ice Cream Parlor Truck will have ice cream and lattes and Wrapperz D-Lite will also be with us serving up breakfast and lunch wraps!

New Kent County residents who need assistance with a Thanksgiving meal for their family can Apply Now through New Kent Department of Social Services or call (804) 966-1853 Extension 5136. Deadline for application is Sunday, November 13.
