Last chance for in-person early voting is Saturday; election day is Tuesday

The Voter Registration Office is open Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for in-person absentee and early voting. The New Kent County Voter Registration Office is located at 7911 Courthouse Way, Suite 400, New Kent.

Polls are open on Tuesday, November 8 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The only office on the ballot in New Kent County is Member, House of Representatives, District 1.

Utility bills due at the end of month

Utility bills have been mailed. Per County Code, bills are due 30 days after the date of the bill. Late fees are added to all unpaid accounts after the due date. Utility accounts more than 70 days past due are subject to termination. Payments should be made to the Treasurer’s Office or via their payment website. If you do not receive your bill by November 10th, or if you have questions about your utility account, please contact the New Kent Department of Public Utilities at 804-966-9676.

Special Notes: Bank & other third party bill pay services still have to mail a check, processing & delivery times may be a week or longer. If you are paying with a credit card be sure you are paying through the official Treasurer’s website (above), not a third party bill pay service.

Give thanks and share with others; donate Thanksgiving items

Thanksgiving is approaching fast and there are so many residents of New Kent County that are in need of your support especially during this time. The New Kent Department of Social Services (DSS) is asking for your help!

DSS will accept all donations including turkeys, potatoes, yams, pies, etc. Still unsure about what to donate? Here are some suggestions.

Create a gift basket: containing items that you would need to make a Thanksgiving meal.
Donate gift cards: preferably to Food Lion
Make a cash donation

Whatever donation you choose, all is very much appreciated.

County offices closed in observance of Labor Day

County offices will be closed for two state holidays next week - Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in observance of Election Day and Friday, November 11, 2022 in observance of Veterans Day.
